    Family Diet Plan

A family diet plan can help your family in a number of ways. Of course, everyone thinks of weight loss when the word diet appears, but your family doesn't have to be overweight to benefit from a family diet plan. A diet plan can save you money in many ways from the cost of food to the cost of health insurance.

When developing a family diet plan, consider the nutritional requirements necessary to provide each family member with the optimal amount of nutrients. This means that you'll most likely need less meat and more fruits and vegetables. The more varied your selection of colors for those fresh fruits and vegetables, the more likely you'll include more vitamins in your diet. The nutrients that give color to the vegetables also provide valuable phytonutrients for your family.

Of course, there is always the concern that purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables costs too much. Nothing could be further from the truth. Lowering the amount of meat in the diet, trash foods and sweets more than offsets any additional cost for the fruits and vegetables. You'll also find that as your family health improves with a family diet plan, you'll save money on health insurance and doctor's visits.

Most people understand that the most physically fit people receive better rates on health insurance but they don't understand weight is also a factor when you purchase a health insurance plan. If you follow a family diet plan closely and change every family member's weight to their ideal, you'll save hundreds of dollars each year when you purchase insurance.

Food intolerance can often lead to frequent doctor visits trying to find the cause of the problem. If you find you bloat, have an upset stomach, have skin reactions or other mysterious symptoms, consider creating a bland family diet at first. Many people have problems digesting milk products and grain products. Celiac disease and lactose intolerance are names for this type of condition. When you develop a diet plan watch carefully for the foods that make you feel uncomfortable and remove them from your diet. This again, will save money by reducing the number of doctor visits and getting you a better price for health insurance.

Include 2 to 4 cups of fresh fruits and vegetables daily. People with a higher level of activity require more. Include vegetables of all colors in your family diet plan. Early nutritionists did not have the benefit of many of today’s scientific studies. Yet they still knew making your table a rainbow of color was highly beneficial to your health. Green, blue, red, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables all have different nutrients in different amounts.

Reduce your intake of meat to no more per day than the size of the palm of your hand. Add fruit or vegetables to all meals and use them as snacks. Watch for food reactions if a family member has mysterious symptoms. Eat as many fruits and vegetables raw if possible. You'll find that adding smoothies to your diet plan or using a juicer can increase the amount of fresh fruit and vegetable intake easily.

When your family diet plan includes all these changes for your family diet, you'll be saving money on food, medication, doctor's visits and health insurance. However, you might find that the money you save now goes for new clothes in a smaller size and sports equipment for your now healthier and therefore more active family.
